20 Incredibly Rare Stuart Crystal

£3,500.00
Description
This Stuart Crystal is one of the rarest I have ever had.   The legend on the back reads... Sir Thomas Dickenson  Ebor Civit  death date. It commemorates the death of Thomas Dickenson who was a Merchant and the  Mayor of the City of York twice, 1647-8 and 1657-58, and a great supporter of Oliver Cromwell. He was also the MP for York.  He was given a knighthood by Oliver Cromwell, in the year 1657. He had no right to ennoble him as he was not the King, just Lord Protector, so it was really illegal!  He obviously had delusions of grandeur, as on the front of this Stuart slide there is a silver crown, which he is not entitled to!   He lived and worked during the only times that England did not have a King.
