VICTORIAN SILVER GILT, CITRINE and PEARL VEIL PIN

£165.00
Description
Veil Pins were a Victorian jewel box essential and were used to fasten shawls and lace around the shoulders. By squeezing the wings together the pin at the back opens and then when released two internal pins hold the fabric together, giving the appearance of a butterfly gently resting on the cloth.

In this example the wings are set with citrines and natural pearls in silver with a citrine body . The back of the pin is decorated with a gold wash.
